Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
TransLink will honor veterans and active military personnel this Remembrance Day by offering them free transit on Tuesday, November 11. Holiday fares will apply to other customers on the same day.
Who Is Eligible for Free Transit?
The following groups qualify for free transit:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals can show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or appear in uniform to access the free transit service.
How to Access Free Transit
- Veterans and eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card for buses and HandyDART trips.
- An accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m. throughout the day.
Additional Commemorations
TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans and their contributions to peace and security worldwide.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit for attending Remembrance Day ceremonies across the region.
