Cameron Norrie reached the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open in Metz after a hard-fought three-set victory over Arthur Cazaux. The seventh seed prevailed 6-7 (1) 7-6 (7) 6-2 in a match that lasted two hours and 49 minutes.
Norrie broke the Frenchman’s serve in the opening game, but Cazaux fired back with a break in the sixth and clinched the first set in a one-sided tie-break. The second set remained tight, with both players holding serve until Norrie edged out his opponent in another tense tie-break to level the score.
In the deciding set, Norrie found his rhythm and twice broke Cazaux’s serve to secure the win and a spot in the last eight. The victory continues his strong form after defeating world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the Paris Masters the previous week.
At the Hellenic Championship in Athens, Novak Djokovic earned his first career win over Alejandro Tabilo to progress to the quarter-finals. The Chilean, ranked 89th, had previously beaten the 24-time Grand Slam champion in Rome and Monte Carlo.
Djokovic delivered a dominant 7-6 (3) 6-1 performance, firing 13 aces and facing only one break point. The top seed’s victory marked the 225th tour-level quarter-final appearance of his career.
"Djokovic served 13 aces and faced just one break point on his way to a 7-6 (3) 6-1 victory."
Norrie’s determination in Metz and Djokovic’s commanding win in Athens highlight an impressive week for top seeds on the ATP circuit.
