Spitfire Joins Remembrance Sunday in County Durham
A full-size, hand-built reproduction of the Spitfire MK IX will serve as a powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served in conflicts past and present this Remembrance Sunday.

The unique reproduction aircraft will be exhibited in Millennium Place, Durham City, on Sunday, 9 November, from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
Significance of the Year
In 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain are commemorated. To honor these milestones, Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Andrew Harrison, aimed to create a meaningful tribute.
Support and Organization
- Squadron Leader (Retired) James A Cowan MBE and Simply Spitfire provided support to secure the aircraft.
- The Spitfire display will be positioned along the route of Durham City's annual Remembrance Parade.
- The parade is scheduled to take place between 10:00am and 12:00pm on the same day.
