Mitchell Marner scored a goal for the Vegas Golden Knights against Tampa Bay Lightning’s goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, closing the gap to 3–4. Despite his effort, the Golden Knights (7-3-3) were defeated by the Lightning (7-5-2) with a final score of 6–3 on Thursday at T-Mobile Arena.
“It was a tough game, but we kept pushing until the end,” Marner said postgame alongside teammates McNabb and coach Cassidy.
Ivan Barbashev also found the back of the net in the same matchup, scoring another goal against Vasilevskiy.
Earlier in the week, the Golden Knights (7-2-3) shut out the Detroit Red Wings (9-5-0) in a close 1–0 victory at T-Mobile Arena. Barbashev scored the only goal of that match past John Gibson.
“We focused on defense and took our chances when they came,” Cassidy said following the Detroit game.
