A new country will formally join the normalization agreements with Israel, collectively known as the Abraham Accords, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy announced Thursday, Anadolu reports.
Steve Witkoff, US Special Envoy to the Middle East, revealed the upcoming addition but did not specify the country. He stated that the announcement would be made Thursday evening at an event in Washington, which he is traveling back to attend.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said during a business forum in Miami, Florida.
President Trump is scheduled to host the leaders of five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House on Thursday evening. Although it is not confirmed whether the announcement will occur during this dinner, the US president is expected to be present for any significant announcement.
The Abraham Accords are normalization agreements signed between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries during President Trump’s first term in office.
