The White House is expected to reveal later Thursday that an additional nation will establish diplomatic relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords, according to U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff.
"I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce, tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords," Witkoff stated at the America Business Forum in Miami.
During Trump's first term, several Arab countries normalized relations with Israel in 2020 through the Abraham Accords. These accords have contributed to increasing isolation of the Palestinians by weakening the Arab consensus that recognition of Israel should be tied to concessions in peace negotiations.
Palestinians, who have endured Israeli occupation for years, view the accords as a betrayal by Arab nations that previously pledged support for Palestinian independence and urged Israel to withdraw from lands acquired post-1948.
Trump's administration is set to announce a new country joining the Abraham Accords, continuing efforts to reshape Middle East diplomacy and impacting Palestinian-Israeli relations.
