Program Overview

In 2025, the UTSA Roadrunners celebrate their 15th football season. As one of the newer FBS programs, UTSA is completing its third year in the American Conference. The program began from scratch, starting with a practice year in 2010 and playing its first season as an FCS Independent in 2011. In 2012, UTSA joined the Western Athletic Conference before moving to Conference USA in 2013. The team became a full FBS member in 2014.

Early Success and Attendance Records

UTSA set NCAA modern startup program records in 2011 by attracting 56,743 fans to their inaugural game against Northeastern State and averaging 35,521 attendees across six home games that season.

Postseason Milestones

The Roadrunners made their first postseason appearance at the 2016 New Mexico Bowl, just their sixth season. In 2017, they recorded their initial win against a Big 12 team with a 17-10 victory over Baylor.

Historic Achievements
