Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai and will face trial in Miami on an attempted murder charge. The charge relates to a shooting outside a boxing event earlier this year.
Brown, known for his 12-year career mainly with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is accused of firing two shots at a man after an altercation at an amateur boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti on May 16.
According to an arrest warrant issued in June, Brown “grabbed a black firearm from the right hip area” of a security official and fired at a man identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.
The 37-year-old had not returned to Florida since the incident. Authorities confirmed to NBC Miami that Brown was extradited from Dubai, where he was allegedly evading American law enforcement.
He arrived via Newark, New Jersey, and was booked into Essex County Jail. Officials stated he will be transported to South Florida, though the exact timing remains uncertain.
Video of the May event, circulated on social media, showed Brown involved in a fight at the boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross.
The case marks a significant development for the former athlete, facing serious charges linked to the violent episode.
