At 6:17 a.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard office issued a dense fog advisory for the Western and Eastern San Fernando Valley as well as the Los Angeles area. The advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m.
"Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog."
"Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous," stated the NWS. "If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you."
The NWS explains that such advisories are issued when widespread dense fog develops, causing visibilities to fall to a quarter mile or below. These conditions make travel difficult and dangerous.
