Nashville police chief says National Guard isn't needed here amid Memphis deployment

Nashville Police Chief Opposes National Guard Deployment

Nashville Police Chief John Drake stated that overall crime is down, but expressed concern over juvenile crime and is monitoring the National Guard deployment in Memphis.

Chief Drake emphasized that deploying troops to American cities to address crime is "unprecedented" and believes there is no need for such deployment in Nashville.

"Nashville is not Memphis, and I'm hoping they look at us and say crime is significantly down and they won't come here to do some of the things they are doing,"

Some politicians, including GOP State Rep. Andy Ogles, have encouraged the National Guard's presence in Nashville, with Rep. Ogles stating:

"We don’t just need the National Guard in Memphis, send them to Nashville. Comrade O'Connell is using the city as an outpost for international gangs to set up shop in our neighborhoods."
