Fairphone Expands to the US with Repairable Headphones

Fairphone, known for ethically sourced and sustainable smartphones, has primarily sold its products in Europe for over a decade. The company has focused on repairable and upgradeable hardware. Although some Fairphone models have been available in the US through the /e/ Foundation with a de-Googled Android version called /e/OS and higher prices, Fairphone itself has not directly sold phones there.

Fairphone CEO Raymond van Eck told Reuters that the company is entering the US market, but starting with a different product—a pair of repairable headphones. This move might pave the way for Fairphone to eventually sell sustainable, repair-friendly smartphones directly to American consumers.

“Fairphone is bringing its repairable headphones to the US. Up until now the company, which focuses on ethically-sourced & sustainable devices, has only sold its phones & accessories in Europe… although Murena does resell some.”
