The supposed clash between Prince Harry and Prince William was dismissed as "predictable" by a royal expert. However, a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex strongly rejected any claims that Harry's announcement was motivated by sibling rivalry.
Prince Harry denied making his visit to Canada public at the same time his older brother arrived in Brazil for the five-day Earthshot Prize tour with the intention of overshadowing him. The Duke’s team explained that the timing was due to security and protection differences compared to senior Royal Family members.
"He is not afforded the same level of security and protection as other working members of the Royal Family. It means therefore, that the period of time in which we can release details of events is much more truncated than it is for His Majesty the King or the Prince of Wales," said Harry's spokesman.
The Prince of Wales arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental award he established. While William began his first event at Sugarloaf Mountain, Harry’s office in California announced his upcoming trip to Canada ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Prince Harry refutes claims of sibling rivalry, attributing the release timing of his royal engagements to security limitations, not an attempt to compete with Prince William.
