Rosalía's Crystal Goggles Are 'Motomami' Meets 'Lux'

Rosalía's Crystal Goggles Blend 'Motomami' and 'Lux' Styles

Rosalía stepped onto the red carpet wearing a full outfit from Pierpaolo Piccioli's debut collection for Balenciaga. The singer, who recently launched her acclaimed album Lux, combined elements from her bold Motomami era with a modern twist.

Striking Monochrome Look at Los40 Music Awards

At the Los40 Music Awards in Valencia, Spain, Rosalía appeared in a monochrome ensemble designed by Balenciaga’s new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. Her outfit featured a midriff-baring crop top made of fringed, textured fabric, paired with a voluminous ball skirt worn extremely low on the hips.

Futuristic Crystal Goggles as a Nod to Past Eras

However, it was Rosalía’s eyewear that truly captivated attention—oversized shield goggles adorned with crystals that covered her forehead. These “bug-eye” glasses called back to her daring Motomami phase and echoed some of the wild designs contributed by Lux collaborator Björk.

“The bug-eye shield goggles were crowned in a shield of crystal that enveloped the musician’s forehead.”

During his debut runway, Piccioli also paid tribute to Balenciaga’s history by incorporating accessories that honored previous creative directors. These eye-catching glasses seemed to reference his immediate predecessor, Demna.
