Piastri trails Norris in sprint qualifying at São Paulo Grand Prix

Lando Norris opened the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend with a strong showing, securing pole position for the sprint race ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri.

Norris, who recently dominated in Mexico City, extended his advantage over Piastri in the championship by a single point as the season enters its final four rounds. The Brit continued his momentum at Interlagos, setting the two quickest laps during Saturday’s sprint qualifying session (AEDT).

He narrowly beat Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli by just 0.097 seconds, while Piastri finished third, only 0.185 seconds adrift. Red Bull’s defending champion Max Verstappen will start from sixth.

"We did the job we needed to do, which was to be fastest today," said Lando Norris.
