Billy Bob Thornton, stars of ‘Landman’ walk red carpet for Fort Worth premiere

Billy Bob Thornton and Cast Attend Fort Worth Premiere of "Landman"

Stars of Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” gathered at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth on November 6 for a special screening of the Season 2 opener. Although Academy Award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton didn’t grow up in Fort Worth, he calls it his favorite city in the U.S.

“For years and years, it was kind of the little sister to the big sister, and Fort Worth is really getting its due now,” Thornton said.

He enjoys celebrating Fort Worth’s Western culture and values the city as the main filming location for “Landman.” The event brought together cast members including Sam Elliott, Paulina Chávez, Michelle Randolph, and James Jordan.

Co-creator Taylor Sheridan was absent, but his wife, Nicole Muirbrook, attended in his place. The premiere was hosted by the Fort Worth Film Commission in partnership with the Lone Star Film Festival, which concluded its screenings in November.

About "Landman"

The series follows Tommy Norris, played by Thornton, as he balances the dangerous job of negotiating land leases for energy exploration and development with complex family struggles. Season 1 detailed Norris’s challenges with corporate executives, Mexican drug cartel members, and oil and gas industry workers in the Permian Basin.
