Wigan Girl to Star Alongside Harry Potter Legend

Two young actors from Greater Manchester have secured roles in Channel 4’s new drama Summerwater, premiering Sunday, 16 November. Bertie Wallwork, 10, from Salford, and Emily Briscoe, 12, from Wigan, both train at the Small Screen Talent acting academy led by Ross Adams, which operates in Manchester and Wigan.

Bertie already boasts notable TV credits such as Ted Lasso (Apple TV) and Pushers (Channel 4), continuing to build a promising screen career. For Emily, this is her first professional television role, and her mentor Ross Adams is optimistic about her future in acting.

“Both Bertie and Emily are incredibly talented young performers with a natural instinct for screen work. To be cast in a Channel 4 drama of this calibre is a huge achievement, and to work alongside legends like Shirley Henderson and Dougray Scott at such a young age will be an experience they’ll never forget.” – Ross Adams

Summerwater is a six-part drama based on the best-selling novel by Sarah Moss, adapted by John Donnelly, and directed by Robert McKillop and Fiona Walton, both veterans in TV drama.

Manchester and Wigan young talents are gaining national attention through noteworthy roles in this highly anticipated series.

Author’s summary: Two talented young actors from Greater Manchester join established stars in Channel 4’s Summerwater, marking a significant step in their burgeoning screen careers.
