Channel 4 has revealed the trailer for Summerwater, a gripping new Scottish drama adapted from Sarah Moss’s acclaimed novel. The six-part series, premiering later this month, is the debut production from Glasgow-based indie Freedom Scripted.
They are supported by Dougray Scott, Shirley Henderson, Valene Kane, Arnas Fedaravičius, Anna Próchniak, and Gabriel Scott.
The series is adapted by John Donnelly (Utopia, The Pass) and directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt) and Fiona Walton (Rebus).
Summerwater is set in a rain-drenched holiday cabin park in the Scottish Highlands. The narrative weaves together multiple perspectives of holidaymakers whose simmering tensions rise toward a devastating climax.
The series "explores fleeting beauty, quiet resentments, and the unseen pressures beneath ordinary lives — all culminating in a single, shattering day by the loch."
This drama promises to examine the complex layers of human relationships amid the striking, oppressive atmosphere of the Highlands.
Author's summary: The series Summerwater portrays delicate human emotions and latent conflicts set against the scenic yet tense backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.
