The Minot North Sentinels made a strong comeback to win their play-in match against the St. Mary’s Saints 3-1 at home on Thursday, Nov. 6, advancing to the West Region AA quarterfinals.
The Sentinels struggled in the first set, experiencing a slow start and finish, which allowed St. Mary’s to take an early lead and win the set 25-12.
The second set began much stronger for Minot North. Senior Aven Kelly and junior Brynn Francis contributed key blocks and kills, giving the Sentinels a 4-0 lead. Although St. Mary’s tied it at 4-4 due to some errors by Minot North, the Sentinels quickly regained the lead and maintained it, eventually winning the set 25-17.
Minot North continued their momentum in the third set, staying at least four points ahead after St. Mary’s briefly led 16-12. The Sentinels closed out the set with a 25-15 victory.

The fourth set began with an early lead for the Saints, but Minot North ultimately secured the match victory and their spot in the quarterfinals.
