Sentinels Looking to Go 3-0 Against Dragons

The Spangdahlem Sentinels are aiming for a season sweep over Alconbury that could secure them the DODEA-Europe six-man football championship. In their previous meeting on September 26, 2025, at Spangdahlem High School in Germany, quarterback Zander Doulder passed the ball to running back Cordrick Sago while Alconbury’s Edison Vega gave chase.

These two opponents know each other well. The six-man football division in DODEA-Europe featured only three teams this year — Spangdahlem, Alconbury, and Baumholder — resulting in multiple matchups among them. The upcoming Friday game at Spangdahlem High School marks their third encounter of the season, this time with the European title at stake.

“It’s just familiarity, which in a way, when you’re teaching D-III, it’s kind of novices, it’s a calming or soothing fact that at least you know what you’re going up against,” said Alconbury coach Steve Casner.

The 2025 championship showcases two teams accustomed to high-pressure games. Alconbury (2-2) reached last year’s final but fell to Sigonella. Spangdahlem (3-1) returned to the six-man format this season after playing nine-man football in 2024 and previously claimed the 2023 title. As in their victory over AFNORTH two seasons ago, the Sentinels will once again host the decisive matchup.

Author’s Summary

Spangdahlem and Alconbury prepare for a third and decisive clash, with both schools seeking redemption and familiarity shaping the DODEA-Europe six-man football final.
