Artists and musicians create work together for charity

Artists and Musicians Unite for Charity

Music Shaped, an initiative by the global charity In Place Of War, brings together visual and musical artists to create unique collaborative works. The project explores how music influences life and culture, using creativity as a force for positive change in communities affected by conflict and hardship.

“We had the idea of a kind of matchmaking service for visual artists and musical artists from our network and beyond, for a conversation that would then inspire a new artwork,” explains the project’s senior producer, Rozenn Logan.

The first edition of Music Shaped featured renowned musician and In Place Of War fellow Brian Eno collaborating with Icelandic artist Ragnar Jonasson, as well as Mercury Prize nominee Self Esteem (Rebecca Lucy Taylor) partnering with Sheffield photographer Karina Lax. The initiative raised £32,000 through an auction of the final pieces, one of which—Taylor’s photograph—is now exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery in London.

In 2025, the program expands further, pairing 24 creatives from different disciplines and styles to craft a new and diverse collection that reflects the boundless energy of music and art.
