Northern Ireland-based gas network operator Kinecx Energy is to focus on biomethane integration and displacing natural gas following a rebranding.
Formerly Firmus Energy Network, the company has invested around £250m in its gas network, which now spans an area covering 200,000 homes and businesses across Northern Ireland.
In May, the company signed a connection agreement with Greenan Generation for a plant in Eglinton, which will supply around 8% of network demand in the northwest.
Across Northern Ireland, the potential for biomethane production is estimated at 3.5TWh.
