During a pre-sash ceremony ahead of the Miss Universe pageant, executive Nawat Itsaragrisil insulted Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, by calling her “dumb.” This incident led several contestants to walk out in protest.
The confrontation occurred as 122 delegates gathered for the event before the main pageant on November 3. In a livestream, Nawat criticized Bosch for not participating in certain promotional activities. He accused her of following her national director’s orders, saying,
“If you follow the orders from your national director, you are a dumb head.”
In response, Bosch defended herself, stating,
“I’m here representing my country, and it’s not my fault that you have problems with my organization.”
The exchange grew tense as other contestants listened in silence. Eventually, Nawat requested security to escort Bosch from the event. In solidarity, several contestants stood up and exited alongside her.
This incident highlights conflicts within the Miss Universe organization and overshadowed the competition just before the main event.
