Miss Universe Belize Walks Out During Sashing Ceremony

The Miss Universe live sashing ceremony in Thailand ended abruptly with multiple contestants walking out, including Miss Universe Belize, Isabella Zabaneh.

Statement from Miss Universe Belize Foundation Ltd.

The foundation emphasized its ongoing support for Isabella, saying:

“The Miss Universe Belize team has been in constant communication with our queen to ensure her safety and well-being.”

Destinee Arnold, MUB’s National Director, affirmed the team's support and Isabella’s determination:

“We are firmly behind Queen Isabella. Despite the recent Miss Universe controversy, Isabella remains focused and committed to representing Belize.”

Incident During the Ceremony in Bangkok

The tension arose during the livestreamed sashing event when Miss Universe Mexico 2025, Fátima Bosch, was publicly confronted by Thai executive Nawat Itsaragrisil. Nawat holds the position of Vice President for Asia and Oceania within the Miss Universe Organisation and leads the local organizing committee.

The footage shows Nawat asking Bosch to stand as he questioned her for missing a sponsor shoot and not promoting Thailand sufficiently. Bosch appeared uneasy and eventually walked out, followed by several contestants in solidarity.

Security was called amid the confusion, with Nawat reportedly shouting:

“Stop, stop! Security!” and warning others to “sit down” if they wished to continue in the competition.

Response from Fátima Bosch

After the incident, Bosch described Nawat’s behavior as:

“Disrespectful.”
