Jorge Mendes has responded to recent criticism directed at his client, Lamine Yamal, who faced scrutiny over his media presence and some remarks before the Clasico against Real Madrid. The 18-year-old forward, one of Barcelona's brightest prospects, delivered an excellent performance against Club Brugge, despite ongoing media attention.
The Portuguese agent, well-known for managing Cristiano Ronaldo's career, expressed surprise at the harshness of criticism toward Yamal.
"I don't understand all the fuss surrounding Lamine Yamal. What we have to do is support him and help him as much as possible, because he is a great asset to the club," said Mendes.
Mendes emphasized that Yamal remains completely focused on his development and that his team works to shield him from media pressure.
"Having everyone watching you is a big responsibility. He is handling it very well and we must continue to help him," he added.
Barcelona has conveyed a calming message internally and has taken steps to limit Yamal's public appearances to reduce media exposure and pressure on the young talent.
Jorge Mendes calls for appreciation of Lamine Yamal's talent while urging support to help the young player stay focused amid intense media scrutiny.
