Photos of the brown leather Ka-Bar knife sheath have been revealed for the first time among more than 2,300 pages of evidence released by Idaho State Police. This key piece of evidence helped identify Bryan Kohberger as the murderer of four University of Idaho students.
Kohberger left the Ka-Bar knife sheath behind at the crime scene at 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho, shortly after the fatal stabbings of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on November 13, 2022.
The forensic genetic genealogy traced DNA on the sheath to the 30-year-old criminology PhD student.
The purchase occurred eight months before the murders and three months before Kohberger relocated from Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, to Pullman, Washington. The Ka-Bar knife, believed to be the murder weapon, has never been recovered.
Summary: The discovery and DNA evidence from a Ka-Bar knife sheath left at the crime scene played a pivotal role in linking Bryan Kohberger to the murder of four University of Idaho students.
