“If you want to be great, you come to the University of Pittsburgh.” This motto drives head coach Tory Verdi’s recruiting philosophy as he enters his third season leading the Panthers.
After achieving 13 wins last season — the highest in recent program history — Pitt women’s basketball aims to build on that momentum and start the new season strong. Verdi has focused on shaping a strong team culture, securing full buy-in from players, and assembling the right roster. This year’s team reflects that vision with a refreshed lineup.
“Our roster is better today than it was the last few years,” Verdi said at ACC Tipoff, highlighting his confidence in the team’s development and chemistry.
Competing in the highly competitive ACC, the Panthers understand every game will challenge their growth. Still, their renewed energy, a deeper bench, and strong commitment to culture create a basis for optimism.
As the season begins, the key question remains: how quickly can this new team gel and convert their potential into measurable success?
