Dave Franco has spoken openly about his brother James Franco to counter accusations that his career advanced due to nepotism. In an interview with Bustle, Dave emphasized that "no one was going to hire me just because I was James Franco’s little brother.”
Both brothers have built successful acting careers. Dave acknowledged that James’s fame helped him gain initial opportunities but added,
“If I sucked, I would’ve disappeared very quickly.”He also highlighted their relationship, saying,
“At this point, I think he’s excited just to see me trying new things and to see me grow.”
James Franco faced a 2019 lawsuit accusing him of “inappropriate and sexually charged behaviour towards female students,” which was settled for over $2 million.
Meanwhile, Dave encountered controversy when his film Together, featuring his wife Alison Brie and directed by Michael Shanks, was accused of plagiarism.
Dave Franco acknowledges his brother’s influence on his career while affirming his own talent, amid controversies affecting both siblings.
