The Vienna Community Action Committee (VCAC), a local non-profit, offers free clothing to residents through its 1805 Closet. The clothing is distributed on the first Monday of each month starting at 8 a.m. at the Vienna Presbyterian Church.
The closet includes apparel for men, women, children, and infants, available to the public. VCAC Director Stephanie Garito said,
"There's over a thousand articles of clothing up there."
The organization partners with Walmart in Liberty, which donates clothing and food to support VCAC projects. Robyn Mediate, manager of the Liberty Walmart store, commented,
"We enjoy coming out to Vienna and volunteering and making it a little easier for Vienna to support their community."
Garito founded VCAC in 2024 to listen to the community and respond to its needs. Vienna township trustee Michael Haddle emphasized the importance of the group:
"You need a community group and people that are willing to step outside, donate their time and money."
The next project, "Vienna Christmas," is scheduled for December 14. It will provide a holiday feast to locals who might otherwise go without. The organization announced a $1300 donation from a Vienna resident for the event.
