The Belgium Blog: Charles-Henri Berguet “Salut Dubai”

Charles-Henri Berguet from Belgium and RC Vannes shares insights from the Final Qualification Tournament for the Rugby World Cup 2027 starting next Saturday in Dubai. Rugby Europe and Belgium invited him to write about their journey.

Arrival and Team Spirit

We arrived in Dubai on Monday after assembling in Brussels. Although the trip looked long on paper, it felt shorter because we enjoy being together. Our motivation goes beyond just our fans, who have supported us at every step — it's about achieving something significant for ourselves as a team, representing Belgium, the Diables Noirs.

Upcoming Challenges

The first test against Namibia will be huge. To succeed, we need to control the match’s tempo and pace from the start. The opening twenty minutes will be key to understanding which team adapts best to conditions, while the one with the strongest spirit will likely win.

However, like us, Namibia has all the ability and qualities to reach the World Cup, as does Samoa and Brazil. Everyone has the same shot, which makes this tournament even more interesting.

Our confidence stems from our unity and the fact that we enjoy each other's company, even outside national team camps.
