Women’s World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka will face Australian player and 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in an exhibition tennis match at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on 28 December 2025. The event brings back the celebrated “Battle of the Sexes,” a concept first made famous by Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs more than fifty years ago.
The one-off exhibition match is organized by Evolve, the shared management agency of both players. It will mark the first competition of its kind in over thirty years, aiming to blend sport, entertainment, and a nod to tennis history.
The original “Battle of the Sexes” took place in 1973, when Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs before a global audience of 90 million viewers. The match became a defining moment for equality in sports and remains one of tennis’s most symbolic events.
“I’m ready to bring my A-game,” said Sabalenka, expressing confidence ahead of the match.
“I’ll make sure to entertain,” promised Kyrgios, highlighting his trademark showman style.
Sabalenka, 27, enters the match after an impressive streak that includes back-to-back US Open victories and a Madrid Open title. Kyrgios, 30, ranked 650 following an extended wrist injury, has played only five matches this year but continues to be one of tennis’s most charismatic figures.
Event organizers have yet to announce official match details, though potential format tweaks such as serving limitations and minor court adjustments are being considered to create a fair and engaging contest.
Author’s summary: A landmark exhibition match between Aryna Sabalenka and Nick Kyrgios in Dubai will revive the iconic “Battle of the Sexes,” blending nostalgia, showmanship, and equality in modern tennis.
