Kemi Badenoch has criticized Police Scotland for failing to investigate a grooming gang in Glasgow, calling the situation “utterly shameful.” The Conservative leader also accused SNP ministers of obstructing scrutiny into the case and warned that rejecting a public inquiry raises concerns about whether the SNP is “hiding something.”
A woman spoke to GB News, alleging that as a young teenager in a Glasgow care home, she and another girl were groomed by a group of about ten men, described as Pakistani. These men provided them with alcohol and later crack cocaine.
“We would go there and we would be intoxicated. And sometimes you would not even really be aware of what was going on around you, and yes, some instances of being sexually abused,” she said.
The survivor explained the men would pick her up directly from the care home and immediately offer her strong alcohol.
“There were times when I would wake up and I had no recollection of the night before, no recollection whatsoever.”
Earlier this year, the woman, named Taylor, made a complaint to Police Scotland and obtained hundreds of pages of her care records via a subject access request.
Police Scotland issued no further comment on the ongoing investigation.
Kemi Badenoch condemns Police Scotland’s neglect and the Scottish Government’s refusal to back a public inquiry, suggesting possible concealment by the SNP regarding a grooming gang investigation in Glasgow.
