The Greater Dandenong City Council has been honored for its strong dedication to sustainability, earning the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards.
These awards highlight environmental achievements and celebrate community spirit across Victoria. They recognize local initiatives that empower residents, change behaviors, protect natural environments, reduce waste, involve youth and Indigenous communities, and build long-term resilience.
The Council’s Waste Services team received special recognition for its Bin It or Take It Home With You campaign. This initiative focuses on teaching the public responsible waste disposal and raising awareness of litter’s impact on the environment.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Council Executive Director City Futures, Sanjay Manivasagasivam.
