Gospel Reflection - Sunday, November 9, 2025

Jesus cleanses the temple, confronting corruption with prophetic courage—an act that leads him closer to his crucifixion.

Vision of the Temple's Water Flow

He led me back to the temple entrance, where water flowed from beneath the temple threshold toward the east, the direction the temple faces. The water flowed down from below the south end of the temple’s threshold, south of the altar.

Then he brought me out through the north gate and guided me around to the outer gate facing east, where the water emerged on the south side.

He said, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; when it enters the sea—the sea of stagnant waters—the water will become fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living creature that swarms will thrive, and there will be many fish once these waters arrive. It will become fresh; everything will live where the river goes.

Along both banks of the river, various trees will grow for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. They will produce fresh fruit every month because the water flows from the sanctuary. The fruit will be food, and the leaves will provide healing.”

“Therefore we will not fear, though the earth changes, though mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.”

Summary

This reflection highlights the transformative power of Jesus’ actions and the life-giving hope symbolized by the temple’s flowing water, promising renewal and healing even amidst turmoil.
