Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox is embarking on a demanding 135-mile challenge for Children In Need. Starting today, Monday, November 10, she will take five days to complete this journey on foot.
Sara's "Great Northern Marathon Challenge" begins in Kielder Forest, near the Scottish borders, and ends in Pudsey, Leeds, on Friday, November 14. She will travel through four counties: Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire.
"We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!"
"When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure."
Sara follows Radio 2 co-star Paddy McGuinness, who raised £10 million last year after completing a difficult cycling challenge for the same cause.
Throughout the week, Sara aims to successfully bring Pudsey bear from Kielder Forest to its namesake town, Pudsey, symbolizing her commitment to the Children In Need campaign.
