Great Gatsby ball organisers say event faced 'some challenges'

The Great Gatsby Roaring Twenties ball was held at St George's Hall at the weekend. The organisers of a Great Gatsby Ball at Liverpool's St George's Hall addressed some of the challenges they said the event faced. Some attendees had contacted the ECHO raising concerns about their experience at the event, which took place on Saturday, November 15. It promised an "immersive soirée" celebrating the golden age of jazz and glamour.

Organised by The Secret Soirée Society, the ball was advertised as a "Roaring Twenties" celebration featuring performances, elegant décor and vintage sophistication. Issues raised by people who contacted the ECHO included queues to get in and for drinks at the bar, as well as cloakroom delays and difficulty accessing toilets due to the numbers attending. Today the organisers told the ECHO that while the show was "busy and popular", there was no point at which it was unsafe and the venue was below its capacity overall. They also said the majority of people had enjoyed their experience, pointing to positive social media feedback. However they did accept some "challenges" had been faced due to a number of factors leading to queues, especially at the cloakroom.

When the ECHO checked social media responses to the event, some people did raise issues over queues and the organisation of the event - but others hailed it as "the best party of the year", as another said "I’d do it all again in a heartbeat."

“I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.”
