AUSA 2025: Sikorsky Unveils Unmanned S-70 U-Hawk
Lockheed Martin's Sikorsky subsidiary has unveiled an S-70U-Hawk unmanned aircraft system (UAS) prototype, based on a repurposed UH-60L Black Hawk.
The U-Hawk has 25% more cargo space than the UH-60L Black Hawk, according to Lockheed Martin.
The company "completely removed the cockpit, the pilot, and also the crew chief stations of the aircraft" - Ramsey Bentley, Sikorsky Advanced Programs Business Development director.
- The U-Hawk was unveiled at the Association of the United States Army's (AUSA's) annual symposium in Washington, DC, on 13 October.
- The aircraft features clamshell doors on the nose that open to the side, allowing them to function while the rotor spins.
