Maryland and Constellation Reach $340 Million Conowingo Dam Deal

Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced a $340 million agreement between the state and Constellation Energy, securing the long-term re-licensing and operation of the 573MW Conowingo Dam.

The agreement establishes enforceable water quality standards under a new Revised Water Quality Certification issued by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), resolving years of litigation.

"The Chesapeake Bay is the keystone to Maryland’s prosperity," said Gov. Wes Moore.

The deal was reached in coordination with Waterkeepers Chesapeake and the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association, ensuring the continued operation of the nearly century-old hydroelectric facility.
