Can an AI Data Center be 'Green'?
A new AI data center from Prometheus Hyperscale is planned for southwest Wyoming, amidst rolling foothills and yellow flowers. The company's founder and CEO, Trenton Thornock, aims to make the data center environmentally friendly, despite the energy challenges.
"I spent most of my summers in Wyoming riding north of the interstate here, moving cattle," said Trenton Thornock.
Thornock's family has been ranchers on the land for six generations. He is now finding ways to power the data center, including measuring sunlight for potential solar panels, which could be an attractive feature for big tech customers like Google, Meta, or OpenAI.
Author's summary: AI data centers face energy challenges in going green.
