Diwali Fest set to shine light on Indian culture
The city of Novi will be hosting a Diwali festival from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on October 16 at the Novi Civic Center, highlighting the culture and traditions of India.
City officials, including City Councilwoman Priya Gurumurthy, Assistant to the City Manager Katherine Oppermann, and City Manager Victor Cardenas, will be performing an Indian cultural dance at the festival.
“It’s the perfect thing to do,”
said City Councilwoman Priya Gurumurthy, noting that 30% of the city's population is Asian, with a significant percentage being Indian.
The festival aims to showcase Indian culture and traditions, bringing the community together to celebrate the holiday of Diwali.
