British Toddler Brain Dead After Falling in Rhodes Hotel Pool
A 2.5-year-old girl from the UK has been hospitalized in critical condition on the island of Rhodes after falling into a hotel swimming pool in the area of Lardos.
The child was on vacation with family and relatives when she escaped the attention of adults and fell into the pool, remaining at the bottom for at least ten minutes, inhaling a large amount of water and becoming unresponsive.
After being recovered from the pool, the toddler was transported to Rhodes General Hospital by ambulance, where doctors assessed her condition and considered airlifting her to Crete or Athens for further treatment, although her brain edema may make such transport questionable.
She fell into the pool and remained in the bottom for at least ten minutes, inhaled a large amount of water and was unresponsive.
The child's condition is critical, with reports indicating she is brain dead.
