Film Production in Los Angeles Sees Uptick
Despite an overall decline, film production in Greater Los Angeles increased by nearly 10% year-on-year in Q3, with 522 shoot days recorded between July and September, a 9.7% rise compared to Q3 2024.
Local productions included Chris Rock's drama Misty Green for A24, starring Anna Kendrick and Adam Driver.
Fortunately, we've already begun to see early signs of these incentives having their desired effect.
The California Film Commission has started processing applications for the expanded state credit, with the first 22 approved projects, including 18 television series, having 180 days to commence production.
Recent actions by California Governor Gavin Newsom and the state legislature to strengthen the Film & Television Tax Credit Program have contributed to this positive trend.
