Muslims Targeted in Religious Hate Crimes
According to official Home Office statistics, 45% of all religious hate crimes in England and Wales (excluding London) recorded in the last year targeted Muslims — a 20% increase.
The official statistics show that Muslims were disproportionately targeted as victims of hate crimes in England and Wales in the year ending March 2025.
Hate crimes against Muslims rose by almost a fifth (20%), with the Home Office noting a “clear spike” in Islamophobic offences since the Southport murders and riots last summer.
