ICE Enforcement Impacts Immigrant Priests and Seminarians in the US
Immigrant priests, seminarians, and religious in the US are affected by immigration enforcement policies, according to advocates and analysts.
Tyson, of the Diocese of Yakima in central Washington, noted that several seminarians in his diocese were impacted, including one born in the US but who left to join his parents in Mexico after they self-deported.
"I know how hard it is to keep my priests and my seminarians in status,"
Bishop Tyson said, highlighting the challenges faced by those from immigrant backgrounds.
