The National Farmers' Union (NFU) has achieved a change in the Seasonal Worker Scheme, allowing workers to re-enter the country sooner than previously permitted.
This change, effective from November 11, enables horticulture workers to work in the UK for up to six months within any 10-month period, providing greater flexibility for both workers and growers.
This is a significant achievement and something we’ve long been campaigning for.
According to NFU Horticulture and Potatoes Board Chair Martin Emmett, this greater flexibility is expected to increase the availability of seasonal workers, especially for early crops in the following season.
