Remembering Jane Goodall: A Pioneer in Primatology

Jane Goodall is a renowned figure who can be described with numerous terms, including scientist, activist, conservationist, humanitarian, primatologist, and ethologist, but "pioneer" may be the most fitting.

In July 1960, Goodall traveled to what is now Gombe National Park in Tanzania to study chimpanzees, a decision that would change the world forever.

Goodall's affinity for animals began at a young age. At just four years old, she demonstrated her curiosity by sneaking into an empty henhouse and waiting four hours to see a hen lay an egg.

Despite being worried, Jane's mother encouraged her daughter's scientific curiosity and love of nature, rather than discouraging it.

Author's summary: Jane Goodall is a pioneer in primatology.
