Hundreds of children in Cornwall are living in temporary accommodation, with over 172,000 children in this situation across England, a record high.

New figures from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government show 740 children in Cornwall were homeless and living in temporary accommodation at the end of June, an increase from none a year earlier.

Charities are calling on Chancellor Rachel Reeves to unfreeze housing benefit in next month's Budget and for the Government to publish its homelessness strategy.
