Adult Animated 'Energon Universe' Series in Development
An adult animated series based on the Energon Universe comics is being developed by Robert Kirkman's Skybound Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment.
The series will unite the mythologies of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals, with a focus on a mature, serialized tone, similar to Kirkman's Invincible series.
Joe Henderson, co-showrunner of Lucifer, is attached to write the adaptation and serve as the series showrunner, bringing an "adult sensibility" to the project.
The series is being pitched with a darker, grittier world, featuring intense action and a cohesive, high-stakes narrative.
The project is currently in development, with a tone that draws comparisons to Kirkman's hit Amazon Prime series.
Author's summary: Energon Universe series combines Transformers and G.I. Joe.
