Town Council Refuses Rezoning Application
Town Council has refused a rezoning application for a former Port Elgin B&B to allow for two additional residential units.
The property owner, Scott Mitchell, apologized for not applying for a Building Permit to convert a garage into an accessory apartment unit.
He promised to never do it again, but several Saugeen Shores councillors still defeated a staff recommendation to approve the rezoning request.
- The application aimed to recognize an existing upstairs residential unit in the house.
- It also sought to convert an existing garage into an additional residential unit.
A public meeting was held with 20 attendees, where Mitchell asked for relief from the Zoning Bylaw.
Author's summary: Council rejects rezoning application despite apology.
