Tennis Takes First Loss in Sweet 16

Davie tennis players Corbin Drum and Kate Chaffin reached the 7A Midwest Regional semifinals, one step from advancing to the state tournament, held at Guilford College.
Both players showed grit in defeat, with Corbin Drum losing to the No. 1 seed (6-3, 6-4) in a competitive match, according to coach Collin Ferebee.
“Corbin played the one seed really, really hard (6-3, 6-4),” coach Collin Ferebee said. “It was a competitive match all the way through.”
Kate Chaffin also had a notable performance, going 2-1 on the day, with a strong win in the first round.
“Kate rolled (in the first round),” Ferebee said.
