LUMBERTON — Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas have been reelected.
Each member was the only name on the ballot and won by a wide margin.
In Precinct 5, John Cantey won with 202 votes, more than 88%. Two write-in candidates, Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus, combined for 27 votes.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”
said Cantey, the senior member of Lumberton City Council, who has served on the board since 2005.
Cantey's victory is an indicator of what the residents of Precinct 5 want as their representative.
